The legacy of GK Joint Legal Practice, a premier Bosnia and Herzegovina law firm,  spans generations, rooted in a tradition that began in 1937 with the distinguished Sarajevo attorney Hivzija Gavran Kapetanović and continued through his direct successor, Šemsudin Gavran Kapetanović, who joined the legal practice in 1939. Over the decades, the firm evolved through trusted partnerships and dedicated leadership, reflecting a deep commitment to legal excellence.

A major milestone came in 1976, when Bekir Gavrankapetanović joined the legal practice, and 1978 he became partner.

One of the crucial moments in the history of the legal practice came in 1993 with the formation of the joint law office of Bekir Gavrankapetanović and Damir Koldžo, marking the foundation of our Bosnia and Herzegovina law firm as it is known today. In the years that followed, the team expanded with the addition of younger partners, continuously strengthening the firm’s expertise and reach. Emir Kukić joined the legal practice in 2005, following Džemila Gavrankapetanović in 2007, Bekir Gavrankapetanović in 2016, and finally Faris Koldžo in 2018

The Founding of the Firm

Šemsudin Gavran Kapetanović joins the legal practice, continuing the legacy started by Hivzija.

In 1939, Šemsudin Gavran Kapetanović joined the legal practice, becoming the direct successor to his father, Hivzija Gavran Kapetanović, and ensuring the continuity of the family’s legal legacy. His dedication to upholding the values of integrity, professionalism, and justice laid the foundation for the firm’s future growth, reinforcing its reputation as a trusted name in the legal community.

1976

Bekir Gavrankapetanović joins the legal practice.

In 1976, Bekir Gavrankapetanović joined the legal practice, bringing fresh perspective and dedication to the family’s longstanding legal tradition.

1979

Bekir Gavrankapetanović Takes the Helm

In 1979, a major leadership transition took place when Bekir Gavrankapetanović became the head of the Law Office. This marked a new era of continuity and professionalism, as he continued the legacy of the founders while modernizing the firm's approach. His leadership has guided the office into becoming one of the most respected legal institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Partnership of Bekir Gavrankapetanović and Damir Koldžo

In 1993, a significant development occurred when Bekir Gavrankapetanović formed a joint law firm with Damir Koldžo. This partnership laid the foundation for further growth and cemented the firm's commitment to providing exceptional legal services to its clients.

2005

Welcoming Emir Kukić and Rebranding the Firm

The firm's evolution continued in 20005, when the young partner, Emir Kukić, joined the firm. This addition led to a pivotal moment in the firm's history, prompting a rebranding to reflect the new leadership structure. The firm became known as the ``Bekir Gavrankapetanović, Damir Koldžo, and Emir Kukić Joint Law Office,`` a name that symbolized the strength and experience of its partners.

2007

Džemila Gavrankapetanović Joins the Firm

In 2007, Džemila Gavrankapetanović, another highly skilled legal professional, joined the firm as a young partner, further enhancing the firm's expertise and expanding its areas of practice. With her arrival, the firm continued its tradition of excellence, ensuring that it remained at the forefront of the legal profession in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

2016

Bekir Gavrankapetanović Becomes a Younger Partner

In 2016, the next generation of leadership emerged when Bekir Gavrankapetanović became a young partner in the firm. This development ensured that the firm would continue its legacy while adapting to the needs of an ever-changing legal environment.

2018

Faris Koldžo Joins the Firm

Finally, in 2018, Faris Koldžo joined the firm as a young partner. With this addition, the firm officially changed its name to ``Bekir Gavrankapetanović, Damir Koldžo, Emir Kukić, Džemila Gavrankapetanović, Bekir Gavrankapetanović, and Faris Koldžo Joint Law Office.`` This marks a new era for the firm, one that combines the knowledge, experience, and innovation of its esteemed partners while remaining committed to the principles that have guided it for nearly a century.
